Ranjha (Banke), Nov 16: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari said the government was considering expanding tax net.
At a programme organized by the Inland Revenue Office in Nepalgunj, marking the National Tax Day and Tax Week here today, Minister Bhandari clarified that impending expansion on tax net was aimed at improving and strengthening tax collection system.
Emphasizing the importance of a strong State for a thriving economy, Minister Bhandari asserted, "If the State is strong, industries and businesses become strong. Therefore, revenue collection should exceed the target to strengthen the State."
Nobody had liberty to reduce the amount of revenue collected, he reminded, calling for collective efforts among industrialists, revenue office employees and police persons to curb the issues such as revenue leakages, revenue evasion occurring due to porous borders.
In the programme presided by Purna Prasad Neupane, Officer at the Inland Revenue Office, Nepalgunj, parliamentarian Deepa Sharma and Chief District Officer of Banke Khagendra Prasad Rijal among others warned that no one would be allowed to embezzle the revenue collection. (RSS)
