NAFA presents annual report to Minister Pandey

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 23: Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) presented its annual report for the fiscal year 2080/081 to its patron, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey on Tuesday.

While receiving the report, Minister Pandey said that due to the rainfall and floods on September 27 and 28, the academy had suffered damages, and due to his busy schedule, there was a slight delay in receiving the report.

Minister Pande added that the report would be submitted to the Prime Minister as well, read a press release issued by NAFA. 

 The Minister expressed the need for better coordination and uniformity between the central academy and the academies being established at the provincial and municipal levels, as the country has moved towards a federal structure. 

The academy’s Chancellor, Naradmani Hartamchhali, expressed gratitude to the Minister for his interest and time in addressing the issues mentioned by the academy.

The academy’s Member Secretary, Devendra Kumar Kafle ‘Thumkeli’, provided detailed information about the national and provincial fine arts exhibitions held by the academy in the fiscal year 2080/081.

 He informed that, in line with the academy’s plan to establish one art hub in each province, the Thangka art hub project in Sunapati Rural Municipality of Ramechhap is underway, a feasibility study for a ceramics hub in Gadhawa, Dang, has been completed, and discussions are ongoing in other provinces.

He also highlighted various activities carried out by the Academy in cooperation with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City during the fiscal year, such as mural painting and skills education programmes.

 He further discussed the upcoming programmes, including the ‘Himalko Rahasya’ (Mystery of the Himalayas) exhibition, which aims to raise awareness about the impact of global warming on Nepal and other Himalayan regions.
