By Bomlal Giri,Nawalpur, Oct. 23: A female rhino has been found dead in Madhyabindu Municipality-12, Nawalpur. The female rhino, estimated to be around three to four years old, was discovered at the Arun Khola confluence on Monday, according to Abinash Thapa Magar,  information officer of Chitwan National Park.

The rhino had been injured during a fight with another rhino in the jungle, and preliminary investigations suggest that it died due to the injuries. It was confirmed that the rhino's horn and hooves were intact, said Magar.

This brings the total number of rhino deaths in the current fiscal year to seven. Out of these, six died due to natural causes, while one was electrocuted, he said.

According to the latest census, there are 694 rhinos in Chitwan National Park, with over 450 located in the Nawalpur region, also known as the western sector.
