By Our Correspondent,Tanahun, Oct. 19: A total of 17,000 children in Tanahun are receiving Vitamin A supplements as part of a nationwide campaign launched by the Ministry of Health and Population. The two-day campaign, being held on October 18-19, aims to administer these essential health supplements to children under five years of age across the country.

Shankarbabu Adhikari, head of the Tanahun Health Office, stated that 17,505 children aged between six and 59 months in Tanahun are eligible to receive Vitamin A supplements during this initiative.

In addition to Vitamin A, children aged one to five years are also being given deworming medicine. The deworming campaign is expected to benefit 15,640 children in the district.

Adhikari further noted that 468 female health volunteers have been deployed to 230 health institutions across Tanahun’s 10 municipalities to facilitate the distribution.

The government has been running the Vitamin A campaign since 2050 B.S. to combat malnutrition and reduce health risks among children.

The deworming programme, which began in 2056 B.S., provides free Vitamin A and deworming medicine to children every year in the months of Kartik and Baisakh as part of the nationwide health initiative.
