Kathmandu, Oct. 17: Issuing a show cause notice, the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday sought a written response from the President of Nepal Bar Association (NBA), Gopal Krishna Ghimire, in a petition lodged against him on charge of the contempt of court.

Following a preliminary hearing on the case, a division bench of Justices Kumar Regmi and Dr Kumar Chudal handed down the order directing Ghimire to appear himself at the court or send the written response through his representative as per the law within a week after receiving the notice.

The SC has asked to Ghimire to furnish evidences if he were not to be charged on contempt of court.

Assistant Registrar of the SC, Govinda Prasad Ghimire, had submitted a report to the SC on contempt of court against NBA President Ghimire.

However, Assistant Registrar and SC Information Officer Ghimire had announced to withdraw the report on the contempt of court but the order was issued after beginning the hearing on the report.(RSS)
