Kathmandu, Oct 7: Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Nepal Mr Aleksei A. Novikov paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba today.
Various matters on Nepal-Russia relations and cooperation were discussed in the meeting, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, both parties reviewed the successful outcomes of Nepal’s participation in recent international forums held in Russia, including the Saint Petersburg International United Cultures Forum and the Eurasian Women’s Forum. They also discussed the potential participation of Nepali officials in the upcoming International Forum “Russia – Country of Sports,” to be held in Ufa, Russia, according to the press release issued by the Russian Embassy.
Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the positive trajectory of cooperation, particularly pointing out the continuous increasing number of Nepali students studying in Russia under scholarship programs funded by Russia’s federal budget.
The two sides also agreed to expedite the review process of several bilateral agreements, which they expect to sign in the near future, thereby further enhancing the framework for collaboration between the two countries.
On the occasion of the Dashain holiday, the Russian Ambassador extended his congratulations to the Minister and emphasized the strong and enduring friendship between the two countries, read the press release.
