Ex-PM Nepal pledges to take initiative for relief

Kathmandu, Oct 5: Former Prime Minister and Chairperson of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal has pledged to make necessary efforts to arrange relief aid to the disaster-hit people.     

He expressed the commitment while meeting with the families affected by recent floods, landslide and inundation in Mandandeupur municipality of Kavre.     

Chair Nepal made onsite inspection of the disaster-ravaged areas and extended tribute to the deceased.     

On the occasion, leader Nepal handed over financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each to the families of the deceased provided on behalf of the municipality.     

Mandandeupur municipality mayor Tok Bahadur Waiwa said the municipality would provide all possible support to the disaster-hit families in the times of grief.     

As many as 75 people lost their lives in the disaster and many physical damages were caused in different parts of Kavre in the disaster.     

The most essential services, including vehicular movement, communications, electricity and drinking water have also been disrupted in Bhumlu, Roshi, Bethanchowk, Timal and Chauri rural municipalities of the district. (RSS)
