Roads and highways resume 2-way movement in 345 locations

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct.1: Roads including some highways that were blocked by floods and landslides across the country have been cleared, restoring two-way traffic at 345 locations.

Additionally, one-way traffic is operational at 408 locations, according to the Department of Roads.

The Department in its update of the highway roads on Monday stated that two-way traffic is now in operation along the Nagdhunga-Mugling road at sections like Mauwa Khola, Hukdi Khola, Fishling, Kali Khola, Simaltal, Jalbire and Ghopte Bhir.

However, on the Nagdhunga-Mugling road, the Jhyaplekhola and Jawang Khola sections are open for only one-way traffic. Similarly, numerous locations on the Mid-Hill Highway in Sindhuli, Udayapur, Okhaldhunga and Khotang have been affected by landslides.

In Sindhuli district, two-way traffic has resumed at sections such as Kudule, Akkare Bhir, Panchakanya, Kalimati-Sanambesi, Sokhu Khola and Kalleri Dobhan of Mid-hill Highway. However, the road at Kukhuretar along the same highway remains open to one-way traffic. 

On the BP Highway, the Kaladhunga section in Kavre is operational for one-way traffic. Likewise, the Charsaya section is open also for one-way traffic.

Around 200 metres of the road near the Mangaltar section has been washed away by the Roshi River, preventing traffic there. On the Kanti Highway, one-way traffic is operational at Karkibas in Lalitpur. 

The Samakhushi-Tokha-Gurje-Bidur road is open for two-way traffic, as per the Department. The Bhainse section of the Hetauda-Bhainse-Palung-Naubise-Kathmandu road is also fully operational with the resumption of two-way traffic from Monday. 

The Okharpauwa section of the Balaju-Trishuli road, connecting Kathmandu and Nuwakot, is open for only one-way traffic. Similarly, on the Kanti Highway, the Mahadevatar section is open for one-way traffic. 

On the Araniko Highway, one-way traffic has resumed along the Kodari and Dalkhang sections in Sindhupalchok.
