President Paudel awards GC chairman Subedi with leading journalist honour

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept 22: Executive Chairman of the Gorkhapatra Corporation, Bishnu Subedi, has been awarded with the ‘leading journalist honour’.

President Ramchandra Paudel handed over the award to Subedi amid a special ceremony organised at the Office of the President today. The ceremony was held to distribute the awards provided by the Press Council Nepal on the occasion of its 55th anniversary.

The honour has been provided to Subedi for his contribution to the professional practice in Nepali journalism for over two and half decades and  for upgrading Gorkhapatra to catch up with the digital era and contribution to make the Corporation self-reliant and additionally commercial. Executive Chairman Subedi was chosen among the office bearers of the government owned news media.

Other leading and senior journalists including Subedi were also awarded with the honour.

An M.Phil. in Journalism and Mass Communication,  Subedi was earlier awarded for investigative journalism against corruption by Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and Transparency International.
