Constitution Day messages

BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Sept. 19: President  Ramchandra Paudel and Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav have extended their best wishes to Nepali people on the occasion of the Constitution Day on Thursday.  

In his message, President Paudel expressed heartfelt condolence to those who achieved martyrdom in various struggles for the establishment of federal democratic republicanism. He said that the current constitution aims to end all forms of discrimination and oppression created by a centralised and unitary state system, uniting the diverse Nepali society. 

He wished that the day would inspire all to come together to fulfil their aspirations for peace, good governance, development and prosperity through a federal democratic republican system.

President Paudel said the constitution provided equal protection to our multi-ethnic, multilingual and multicultural society, characterised by the unique geographical structures of the mountains, hills and plains. He expressed his belief that no one would undermine the mutual goodwill, brotherhood and coexistence among the Nepali people.

Likewise, in his message, Vice President Yadav said that the day would give us an opportunity to express respect for those who sacrificed their efforts and lives to create this constitution. He said that the constitution strives to guarantee justice, equality and freedom for Nepali citizens while promoting a sense of unity and brotherhood. 

He further said that it was essential to focus on the strict implementation of all legal provisions related to fundamental rights in the constitution. He wished that the day would inspire every Nepali to work towards ensuring employment opportunities within the country in line with the essence and spirit of the constitution.
