NPC make winning start in CAVA Women’s Club C’ship

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 16: Nepal Police Club (NPC) began their campaign at the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Club Championship 2024 with a win in the first match played in Male, Maldives, on Sunday.

Representing Nepal as the country’s league champions, Nepal Police was facing Uzbekistan’s Humo Volleyball Club in three consecutive sets despite the opponent posing a threat several times.

Nepal Police was making a comeback now and then when Humo VC was trying to get a proper lead. For instance, from 9-9 points in the first set, Nepal Police took the score to 15 before Humo made it 10. That set ended 25-19.

However, the second set went on to extra points after both were at 24. It too ended in Nepal Police’s favour with 27-25. The third set was the easiest in terms of points as Nepal’s champions won by a score of 25-19.

Six elite clubs from five countries – the Maldives, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka and Tajikistan – are participating in the tournament that kicked off on Sunday. Club WAMCO of the Maldives defeated Sri Lanka’s Air Force 3-1 in the tournament opener.

Nepal Police faces Sri Lanka Air Force in their second encounter on Monday.
