BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Sept. 15: The Ministry of Health and Population has made a policy decision regarding the adjustment of healthcare workers facing difficulties during the adjustment process.

According to this decision, healthcare workers currently employed in positions without a sanctioned post will have their adjustments amended according to their own requests. The Ministry of Health and Population had prepared a staff management procedure to address the issues of healthcare workers in such positions including through making amendments once within the current fiscal year.

In the cabinet meeting held on Monday, Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel presented a proposal on this matter, which was approved by the cabinet. Minister Paudel announced that sufficient policy arrangements would be made to deploy healthcare workers who had not been assigned responsibilities during the adjustment process and to resolve adjustment issues.

His secretariat indicated that the problems faced by healthcare workers due to adjustments were expected to be resolved as per the announcement made on August 11. Previously, over a thousand employees in sanctioned positions had faced difficulties due to the lack of alternative arrangements.

Following the approval of the proposal, the ministry will now recommend issuing adjustment letters to employees who are in the adjustment process but have not yet received correspondence. The ministry will recommend matching sanctioned posts for healthcare workers adjusted to federal structures and medical boards within the current fiscal year. It will also ensure that healthcare workers adjusted to provincial and local services have their sanctioned posts and salaries secured based on mutual agreement and will facilitate deployment between federal, provincial and local levels.

For those healthcare workers who have been adjusted to local levels but have not obtained MD/MS specialisation, the ministry will recommend assigning them to work in the provinces based on agreements with their current working levels or provinces.

According to the approved proposal, the ministry will recommend managing healthcare workers who are in excess of the sanctioned posts within provinces, ensuring that the number does not exceed the sanctioned posts coordinating among local levels within the provinces.
