CPN-UML meet approves annual action plan

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 14:  A secretariat meeting of the ruling CPN-UML has approved the annual action plan of the party. 

The secretariat meeting held at the party office in Chyasal on Friday passed the annual action plan, which includes a provision for holding the convention of all level committees by mid-December, party General Secretary Shankar Pokharel confirmed. 

Talking to the media persons after the meeting, Pokharel said that the party prepared an annual action plan aimed at building a strong national power. 

He informed that the action plan prioritises mobilising people’s organisations and connecting with the people. 

“Today’s meeting has approved the annual action plan for decisive national power,” Pokharel added.

Pokharel said, “The annual action plan includes 18 topics. Party membership renewal, expansion, and documentation work have been prioritised as the major issues of the plan.”

“We are regularly organising and managing conventions, but some district committees still have pending conventions. We plan to conclude these by the mid-November. Additionally, we aim to hold convention at all levels by mid-December.”

He informed that a plan has been made to assign reasonable responsibilities to new party members and those who have left various conventions, within three months. The meeting also outlined a plan to establish the working methods for party committees and cadres. 

The meeting formulated an action plan focusing on party committee mobilisation, inter-party conflict management, and party unity. 

It also included a plan to operate the party’s school as a campaign.

Pokharel informed that the plan stipulates that each party member should join a party-level school and participate in its programmes annually. 

The meeting emphasised the concept of building leadership, he added. 

Aiming to become a dominant national power in the 2027 general elections, the UML has also decided to hold a youth summit for individuals aged below 40. The meeting also made various decisions to enhance the effectiveness of government and people’s representatives. 

Pokharel stated that the action plan focuses on bringing government work to the people and increasing the role of people’s representatives.

The party’s annual action plan also addresses the subject of party purification.
