BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Sept,1: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah has said that the Metropolitan Police Force has set an exemplary standard in the challenging task of managing cities in developing countries.
During a programme organised on the occasion of the 32nd Metropolitan Police Day in Kathmandu on Friday, Mayor Shah said that the City Police made significant contributions to restoring nature which was destroyed by the development. He said, “The work done by the City Police in reclaiming encroached public land, opening up covered rivers, prohibiting street trade, managing street-dependent individuals and beautifying the city has become a learning example for the country and other South Asian nations.”
Raju Nath Pandey, Senior Superintendent and Head of City Police said that knowledge, skills and conscience had been fully utilised in compliance with laws, policies and orders.
On the occasion, City Police Constable Usha Adhikari was awarded the Metropolitan Police Pride Award along with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000. Likewise, City Police Inspector Shyam Prasad Timilsina was awarded the Outstanding Metropolitan Police Award along with a cash prize of Rs.20,000. City Police Deputy Inspector Ishwar Prasad Dahal and Municipal Police Constables Bikram Shrestha and Purna Bahadur Shrestha were awarded the Metropolitan Police Award along with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000.
