Myagdi, July 25: Landslide prevention works have begun near the Baisari Andheri rivulet along the border of Raghuganga rural municipality-2 and 3 in Myagdi district after the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road section of the national pride project, Kaligandaki Corridor, was obstructed daily.

The work has been started adopting 'rock anchoring' technology to remove the landslide on the Road of Baisari under the Beni-Jomsom road connecting Mustang with the national highway through the northern region of Myagdi.

Sub-engineer of Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project, Sohanjung Karki informed that the landslide prevention work has begun by drilling in the hills above the road.

For rock anchoring, 30 meters of 'drilling' is being done and the rod is being placed. Sub-engineer Karki said that a landslide prevention structure is being built by constructing a wall on the hill.

The Kaligandaki Corridor Project has been marred by landslides in more than 50 places in Myagdi section, flooding from tributaries and erosion caused by Kaligandaki. Residents of Raghuganga, Annapurna Rural Municipality and Mustang of Myagdi, as well as tourists and pilgrims, have been facing difficulty in commuting as the Beni-Jomsom road has been obstructed due to landslides at Baisari and other places.  (RSS)
