By Janarjan Khatri, Sarlahi, June 28: Most areas of Sarlahi have been inundated after the heavy rainfall of Friday morning. Dozens of settlements have been submersed in water from the incessant rainfall from 2 to 9 AM on Friday.

The problem of inundation has been observed because of the construction of roads without the arrangement of the drainage system.

Locals have said that the commute is disrupted as the road is submerged in water.

According to the District Traffic Police Office, Nawalpur, vehicular movement has been disrupted because of flooding in various parts of the East-West highway of the district.

Traffic Police Inspector Madan Thapa said that vehicles are being made to cross alternately due to flooding in front of Bhagbani Center and Lachka in the market of Harion.

Locals said that commuting by small vehicles including motorcycles is difficult because of the flooding in various inner roads of the district

The flood is observed in rivers of Bagmati, Banke, Kalinjor, Lakhandehi and Phuljor, after the incessant rainfall.

According to the ward chair of Lalbandi Municipality-3, Buddha Dev Chaudhary, the bridge of Phuljor River connecting Jabdi of Lalbandi Municipality-3 and Rampur of Ishworpur Municipality-8, has been closed for vehicles other than motorcycles and foot.

He said that the commute has been disrupted after the road near the bridge towards Jabdi was washed away.

Locals said that it rained heavily in the northern part of the district for seven hours, but the southern part, including the headquarters, Malangawa, received normal rain fall.
