Emphasis laid on skills to generate self-employment

Patan, May 25: Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiri Babu Maharjan, has laid emphasis that the metropolis would impart skill-oriented trainings which are useful to create and promote self-employment and entrepreneurship.     

At an interaction organised here Friday, Mayor Maharjan shared that the training and skill-oriented programmes would not only distribute certificates of completion but also create atmosphere to promote skills and employments at local level.     

"Participants in today's interaction also underscored the skills oriented to self-employments. Similarly, participants in a public hearing conducted few days ago had suggested urgency of launching training schemes", he reminded.     

Mayor Maharjan expressed commitment to run such training by taking into account the suggestions as well as the availability of budget.     

Sharing that more than 30,000 youths are now in self-employment activities in Lalitpur metropolis alone, he explained that the metropolis has the plan of increasing number of people in this scheme.     

Women and backward communities were prioritized for the programme as set in collaboration with the Employment Service Centre, according to him.     

Similarly, Deputy-Mayor Manjali Shakya said the metropolitan city had been implementing a special plan for human development and employments to youths along with infrastructures and construction activities.     

Stating that it had been running training by prioritizing the handicraft sector, she mentioned that the metropolis was committed to creating employment opportunity to youths in the country.(RSS)
