BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Ilam, May 25: The International Tea Festival 2024 is set to be organised in Ilam from June 8-10. The festival aimed at promoting Nepali tea, which has become a source of earnings for many farmers, will be supported by the Nepal Tourism Board.

Kedar Thapa, Mayor of Ilam Municipality and coordinator of the organising committee, said that the three-day festival would assist in marketing Nepali tea and promoting tea tourism.

Tea cultivation, which began in Ilam in 1863, has now spread to various districts across the country. The festival holds special significance since tea planting started in Ilam and the country's oldest tea factory was established in Ilam in 1878.

Mayor Thapa said, "The goal is to involve tea farmers, industrialists and traders in the festival." The festival will feature stalls with different varieties of orthodox teas, flavourful tea and types, including tea tastings.
