Bagmati Province to table policy document on Monday

 By Rammani Dahal ,Hetauda, May 25: The Bagmati province government will unveil its policy and programme for the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25 on Monday.

The provincial government has started preparations to announce the government’s policy and programme.

Bagmati Province’s Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel has written to the Secretariat of the Provincial Assembly, requesting the requisite arrangements as he intends to present the provincial government’s policy and programme in the Provincial Assembly on Monday.

Manoj Kumar Gupta, Spokesperson for the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, confirmed that they have received a letter from the Chief Minister’s Office, requesting the necessary arrangements to present the policy document in the Provincial Assembly.

As per the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma is scheduled to present the provincial government’s policy and programme on Monday at 3 pm.

There is a trend of bringing policies and programmes based on the government’s principles and priorities (prebudget). Also, the budget for the next financial year is based on policies and programmes. Previously, members of the provincial assembly conveyed their expectation that the policy and programme for the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25 would adhere to the principles and priorities outlined in the appropriation bill.

Provincial Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Jagannath Thapaliya has affirmed that the government will prioritise good governance, transparency and production-oriented agriculture while formulating policies, programmes and budgets.

He highlighted that achieving balanced and sustainable development, alleviating poverty, and bolstering employment opportunities are the core principles, priorities and programme objectives of the provincial government.
