New York writers' workshop begins

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 24: The New York Writers Workshop kicked off its Kathmandu Workshop in collaboration with the White Lotus Book Shop at Park Village Resort, Budhanilkantha, on Thursday.  During the opening ceremony, the workshop faculty provided an overview of the Kathmandu Workshop and discussed how it would culminate in the inaugural Himalayan Literature Festival which will take place on May 27 and 28 at the Kathmandu Guest House in Thamel.

The ceremony welcomed all participants, who are published writers in their respective countries. 

Over 35 international authors from five continents are participating in the Kathmandu Workshop which will be held until June 2, engaging in the crafts of memoir, poetry, fiction, and photography.

Yuyutsu RD Sharma, Tim Tomlinson, Ravi Shankar and Jami Proctor highlighted the programmer’s features, which include visits to holy shrines, encounters with shamans, and tours of historic places, religious sites, mountains, and the diverse flora and fauna of Nepal. The festival will culminate in the Himalayan Literature Festival, where more than 75 Nepali authors will interact with the workshop participants, fostering an exchange of cultures and ideas between East and West.
