By Phadindra Adhikari, Lekhnath, Dec. 27: Former registrar of Cooperatives Registrar's Office , Pokhara, Udaya Bahadur Parajuli, has been arrested in a case of money embezzlement of more than Rs 10 million.
Police arrested the accused for misappropriation of money that was taken to expand Mitra Milan Saving and Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Pokhara.
Parajuli, who is serving as Chief Administrative Officer of Kushma Municipality, Parbat, was arrested from his workplace on Wednesday. After receiving an arrest warrant from the District Court, Kaski, a few days ago, Parajuli went missing. He came to the office today where he was arrested.
Superintendent of Police Mohan Kumar Thapa, District Police Office, Kaski, said that Parajuli who was arrested from the workplace is being brought to Pokhara.
Thapa, said, “He went to his office today after so many days and we arrested him at his workplace. We are now bringing him to Pokhara.”

It has been revealed in the detention of the operators of the cooperatives that money was emblazed in the name of adding ‘workplace of Mitra Milan’. A case of money embezzlement of Rs 10,500,000 came out during the investigation.
So far, six people have been arrested in charge of the misappropriation of ‘Mitramilan’ funds. More than two dozen including the ward chair of Pokhara-21, accused of the crime, are at large.
Deputy Superintendent of Office (DSP) Shrawan Kumar BK, Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Kaski, said that further investigation on the matter and search for the accused is underway.
The 744 people who have kept their money in the Mitra Milan Saving and Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Pokhara, filed a writ petition against him. They have claimed money embezzlement of Rs 20 million.
