Chitwan, Dec 2: The capacity of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Bharatpur Hospital has been increased. It is now equipped with 38 bed with the addition of four state-of-the-art beds with ventilators.
Dr Govind Kandel, the spokesperson of the hospital, said that more beds were added due to the shortage of beds in proportion to the number of patients. The hospital's intensive care unit has almost 100 percent occupancy.
The intensive care unit bed of a private hospital costs around Rs 15,000 per day while the bed fee of a government hospital is only Rs 2,000, he said.
In addition to this, a 20-bed pediatric intensive care unit and a six-bed PICU are in operation in the hospital. There are 600 general beds in the hospital, which is federal hospital. Up to 3,000 patients come here daily for treatment, according to the chief medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Sriram Tiwari. (RSS)
