High court orders not to close Pokhara Lakeside

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov 8: The High Court Pokhara has given a verdict not to close the lakeside of Pokhara.

The single bench of Pokhara High Court Judge Rajan Prasad Bhattarai gave the verdict on the matter on Wednesday.

In the hearing of the writ petition filed by Dev Kumari Baral, Judge Bhattarai gave the final verdict of not to halt the business trade as per the law. 

The  High Court Pokhara verdicts, “Even though it was a law to deploy the necessary security in areas where there is an increase in tourist traffic such as lakeside Pokhara, there is a provision of necessary security arrangements so that businesses can open round the clock, as it is seen from the copy of the action plan submitted by the petitioner with the petition, the final decision of the petition will be reconsidered in accordance with the law as the counter writ petition is filed as well. Therefore, an interim order has been issued in the name of the counter petitioner as per High Court Rules 2073 (42) saying that other than a criminal offence, the business of the original petitioner should not be stopped or to make a business stop.
