Nepal-India border meet discusses to maintain security during festivals

By Our Correspondent,Bardibas, Oct. 13: Deputy Inspector General-level border coordination meeting of the Nepali and Indian security officials was held here on Thursday.

The meeting named as 'Counterparts Coordination Meeting' held at the No. 2 Brigade Headquarters of APF in Bardibas concluded by holding serious talks on the issues of maintaining security order during the festive season, controlling crimes, building inter-country relationships better and reducing tension in the border areas. 

According to Madhav Prasad Paudel, Information Officer of the Armed Police Force of Chhinnamasta Brigade Headquarters and Senior Superintendent of Armed Police, the police officers of the two countries agreed to set up a help desk for travellers in the border area for easy and safe movement of people during the approaching festival season in Nepal. 

Paudel said that there were also positive discussions about controlling communal activities and allowing Nepali vehicles to move easily across the border with the help and cooperation of both parties.

On behalf of Nepal, DIG Dipendra Shah led the meeting while Deepak Kumar, DIG of SSB Sector Headquarters, Muzaffarpur, India, led the meeting.

In the meeting, both sides agreed to apply special security measures to control the increased drug trafficking, as well as coordinate with the relevant organisations to control human trafficking.

An intensive discussion was held on the issue of building cooperation in controlling economic crimes in the border areas, said SSP Paudel.
