By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct.2: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a Rs 232 million corruption case against nine people, including the then-chairman and executive director of the National Information Technology Center.
The corruption case was filed against the then chairperson Sanjay Sharma and former Executive Director Pranita Upadhaya, in the Special Court, Kathmandu, by CIAA following the conformation that the property of the Nepal Government-Public Institutions, worth Rs 232,758,077 was damaged by the carelessness and malignity of the defendants.
Bhola Dahal, Spokesperson of the CIAA, said that former chairperson Sharma, former Executive Director Upadhaya, the then Deputy Director- Executive Director Sunil Poudel, Deputy Director Safal Shrestha, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Secretary Madhav Kumar Marasini, the then Assistant Director Ramesh Prasad Pokharel, nicknamed Ramesh Pokharel, former account officers Ram Bahadur Buda, Nim Bahadur Oli, and Computer Engineer Ram Sharan Gayak, are facing corruption charges by damaging public property by collaborative planning.
According to him, corruption charge of Rs 232,758,077 against nine persons for the offense under Section 17 of the "Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 (2002 A.D.), and as directed by Section 17 of the same Act, sentenced to imprisonment in accordance to Section 3, Sub-section 1(Jha) of same Act, and as per the same Section 3, Subsection 1, was fined and corruption case was filed as per the same Act, Section 17.
