blog

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct.2: Minister for Finance Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat pointed out that the stock market needs to be in fine fettle.

Addressing a program organized by the Security Boards of Nepal (SEBON) on the occasion of World Investor Day 2023, Dr Mahat said, “If common investors can benefit from the stock market, then only they will invest in it, taking it as a medium for gain. There is a need to protect the investment of the common people.”

According to him, the cause of concern is this. The talk of insider trading is there, there is a tendency to leak information as well, so the Security Boards of Nepal need to regulate it.

There is a tendency to influence investors by overestimating it. SEBON needs to educate people in this regard. Likewise, it is necessary to create knowledge and awareness of investment security.

The Finance Minister pointed out it is essential to create a healthy environment. He said,” There were limited brokers earlier, now they are rampant, thereby, decreasing the monopoly. This will benefit the common investors.”

While informing the launch of the chat board, Dr. Mahat said,” This is an initiation to create the accessible and fast platform for inquiry, information, and complaint related to the stock market. This will come in use for all.”

He pointed out that investment literacy is weak, and said that the new methods of investment are being developed.

He said, “Information revolution brings new revolution with it and we have to prepare ourselves for it.  Only then, investors will be secure. For this, the regulatory body the SEBON has been formed.
