Lhasa (China), Sept 27: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', who is on an official visit to China, visited the historical Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple here on Wednesday.
The UNESCO enlisted the Potala Palace, which is around 3,800 meters above the sea level, in the list of World Cultural Heritages in 1994. It is the historical, biggest and old palace of Tibet. It is the palace constructed at the highest point from sea level in the world.
On the occasion, officials of Potala Palace briefed Prime Minister Prachanda about the palace.
Similarly, Prime Minister Prachanda also visited Jokhang Temple located near the Potala Palace. The UNESCO had also enlisted the Jokhang Temple in the list of World Cultural Heritages in 1994.
The Temple is one of the most important shrines for Buddhists. An idol of Shakyamuni Buddha has been kept in the temple with devotees paying special importance and respect towards it. Officials of Jokhang Temple briefed PM Prachanda about the Temple.
Members of the delegation led by PM Prachanda were also present on the occasion. (RSS)
