School holiday extended in Nepalgunj due to heatwave

By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, June 9: Heatwave in Nepalgunj and its nearby areas is on the rise, because of this, different municipalities including Nepalgunj have made a decision to extend school holidays. 

The District Administration Office, Banke issued a public notice that read that the heatwave is likely to continue for a few more days, therefore, municipalities can extend school holidays as per the situation. 

The Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City had previously closed schools from June 4 to June 6 and further extended to June 9. However, due to the persistent rise in temperature Sub- Metropolitan has decided to further close schools till June 13. 

Gorkha Bahadur Thapa, Chief of the Education Section, Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan, said that in view of the request of the district administration office and increasing heat, schools will be closed till June 13. These holidays will be reduced from national holidays. 

Chief Thapa said that the holiday was extended as students were starting to get sick and the temperature has been soaring persistently. 

The Sub- Metropolitan has urged schools to have morning sessions when schools will reopen on July 14 by coordinating with the school management committee. 

Likewise, Kohalpur Municipality, Khajura Rural Municipality, Janaki Rural Municipality, and Baijanath Rural Municipality have also extended school holidays due to heat waves.
