By Our Correspondent,Inaruwa, May 27: Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality, in Sunsari district, distributed free health insurance cards to the family members of 350 impoverished households considering the rights of poor and vulnerable families.

Ajmal Akhtar Miya, chairman of Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality, informed that free cards were distributed under the government’s health insurance programme to ensure easy access to healthcare services and prevent the loss of life prematurely.

Under the municipality's programme, a third round of distribution of insurance cards had been organised in the community hall targeting the extremely poor and vulnerable families.

Asfaq Alam, the health insurance coordinator of the rural municipality, said that in the first phase, 50 households of Ward No. 3 were provided with the cards. In the second phase, 150 households of wards 2 and 4 received them and 150 more households received the insurance cards for free in the third phase.

Chairman Miya informed that during the local elections, candidates of the Nepali Congress made a commitment to provide free health insurance services to at least four hundred households.

Alam added that cards will be distributed to the remaining 50 households in the second week of June. “No one should be deprived of health care. We will try to ensure it,” said Chairman Miya.
