Kathmandu, May 4: Flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been disrupted today by adverse weather.

According to the TIA office, domestic as well as international flights have been normally affected due to low visibility issues. TIA Spokesperson Teknath Niraula said," TIA at the moment allows the operations of the instrument flight rules (IFR)-supported flights, owing to the visibility issue."

Some flights have been delayed and some international flights: Sri Lankan Airlines and Thai Smile Airways observed holding for some time. Services to mountainous destinations such as Lukla and Simikot have remained halted. Flights to other destinations in rural districts have been slightly affected.

At present, rain is taking place in some parts of the country including in Kathmandu today due to the impact of the Westerly and local winds, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. (RSS)
