Gaushala Municipality remains tense

By Our Correspondent,Bardibas, Apr. 25: Gaushala Municipality-4 in Mahottari district remained tense on Monday after locals and police clashed over a case of poisoning, in which a woman has died in the village. 

Twenty-five-year-old Arati Devi Sah was found dead consuming poison at her own home on April 21. 

In the case, her parent’s relatives and the locals have been claiming that she was murdered by her husband, sister-in-law Asha and mother-in-law forcing her to bear domestic violence.  

Demanding justice to the victim, and arrest of all involved in the case, the locals and the relatives have been staging a protest at Malhaniya Pokhari village of Gaushala Municipality-4. 

On Monday, police had to fire nine rounds of bullets in the air to take the situation under control after a clash ensued between the locals and police. 

Police Inspector Shanker Thapa said that in the clash, both the locals and police sustained minor injuries. Eight policemen were injured during the clash. The clash ensued after the locals started pelting stone and charging bamboo batons at the security personnel. 

Upon the complaints of the locals, police have arrested the victim's husband, Umesh, However, the agitating locals have demanded the arrest of  Umesh's entire family members. 

Hundreds of locals, especially women's group have been staging the demonstration by burning tyres on the road.
