35 underpasses to be built for wildlife mobility along Narayanghat-Butwal road

By TRN Online, Kawasoti, March 15: Some 35 underpasses will be constructed in the Narayanghat-Butwal road section of of East-West Highway for wildlife movement.

Project manager Rakesh Jha informed that 35 underpasses, 22 in Gaidakot-Daunne and 13 Daunne-Butwal, are getting constructed. He said that underpasses will help save wildlife from road accident.

Jha added that camera will be installed to oversee the wildlife.

The study has begun after Asian Development Bank (ADB) showed concern to construct underpass in Dumkibas.

Government has directive to restrict the construction of infrastructure that jeopardize life of wild animal.

The China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited has been carrying out the highway project extended between 115 Kilometer Gaidakot-Butwal high-way. 

The ADB has loan assistance of Rs 16.99 billion to for construction of this section of highway.

To complete the project, ADB has provided the loan assistance of 85 per cent and government will bear the remaining amount.
