Magar defends title

By Arjun Kafle,Syangja, Mar. 11: Long-distance runner Anish Thapa Magar won the 3rd Cross Country Race in Syangja on Friday. 

Magar defended the title of the Open 20 km race with a time of 1 hour and 4:36 minutes. 

The marathon gold medalist at the 9th National Games held in Pokhara, Magar also pocketed Rs. 35,000 in a cash prize.  

Khevraj Basnet of the Nepal Army clocked 1 hour and 6:56 minutes to trail at the second position. He bagged a purse of Rs. 25,000. 

Subash Karki of the Army took 1 hour and 8:13 minutes to finish third place. He took home Rs. 15,000.  Likewise, Sandip Dhakal of Gorkha won the under -21 10 km race with a time of 43.30 minutes and bagged a cash prize of Rs. 15,000. 

Dinesh Bogati of Gorkha clocked 44.20 minutes to claim the silver medal. Manoj Roka Magar trailed in the third position with a time  of 46.5 minutes.
