BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Waling, Dec. 23: Warm clothes and food grains bought from the money collected by playing Deusi Bhailo programe in Tihar have been distributed to the elderly, poor families and the senior citizens of an old age home in Waling of Syangja.
The Beauty Parlor Association Syangja has donated Rs. 140,000 which the Waling-based members of the association had collected by playing Deusi Bhailo during the recent Tihar festival.
The association donated food and warm clothes to the senior citizens living in the old age home on the premises of Radha Damodar Temple at Keladighat in Chapakot Municipality-6.
According to Pushpa Aryal, president of Beauty Parlor Association Syangja, items worth Rs. 100,000 were distributed to 30 female and two male senior citizens living in the old age home.
Similarly, food grains and clothes worth Rs. 40,000 were distributed to the four extremely poor families of Dalit communities of the same ward, said Aryal.
Stating that attitude towards women associated with the beautician profession in the society is still not positive, Aryal said that they supported the needy people to change the negative public attitude towards their profession.
"We have done the social work to change that mindset as people do not show respect to the women involved in this profession in the villages,” she said.
Recalling that they had helped the elderly people of the old age home with the money by playing Deusi Bhailo last year as well, Aryal said that social work was also a part of their profession.
Lekhnath Bastakoti, chairman of the temple management committee, said that with the cooperation of various parties, the livelihood of the senior citizens living in the old age home has become easier. "Donors keep coming, due to which life of the senior citizens has become easier,” he said.
Dev Bahadur Khand (Ishwor), Mayor of the municipality, said that the municipality has been providing support for the protection and wellbeing of the elderly people living in the old age home of the temple.
Around 28 beauticians working in Waling have raised the money by playing Bhailo.
