Japan hands over new school building in Dadeldhura

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 17: The government of Japan handed over a newly-built classroom to Mahendra Secondary School in Amargadhi Municipality, Dadeldhura, amidst a function on Friday.

The new building has been built at a cost of USD 81,465 (approximately Rs. 9.2 million) under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Japanese government. 

On the occasion, Kikuta Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, sent a congratulatory message to all involved in the project.  He recognised the efforts of all who worked with the Embassy to complete the project, according to a press statement of the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu. 

He also expressed his hope that the newly-built classrooms would contribute to the quality education of the Dadeldhura and the nearby District. Mahendra Secondary School was established in 1957 and is a significant regional educational institution. 

Prior to building the new classrooms, about 400 students were compelled to study in congested classrooms. The year 2022 is significant as it marks Japan and Nepal's 120th anniversary of the first Nepali students traveling to Japan, read the statement.
