Dhangadhi, Dec 11 : Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City in Kailali district has started a service known as “Namaste Mayor” for public to complain about corruptions in the local level.

The service was inaugurated jointly by the Chief District Officer Kiran Thapa, Mayor Gopal Hamal, Deputy-Mayor Kandakala Rana and educationist Dr. Hemraj Panta, among others, on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9.

The locals will be able to write a complain on any corruption activity to the local level. The sub-metropolis would then conduct necessary investigation with the help of concerned authorities.

“The step has been taken to make our local level free from corruption. We expect the support from general public for it,” said

Mayor Hamal.

The service was also initiated under a campaign of UNDP to eradicate corruption. “The campaign has been started from Dhangadhi,” said Manoj Ojha, coordinator of the

UNDP campaign.

The locals can scan a QR code and access social media of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolis and register a complaint.

A toll-free number has also been brought into operation for the same purpose. A separate division to overlook complaints from the public has also been established in the

local level.
