Nov. 27: Almost 80 per cent of votes cast in the November 20 election under the
Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system of the House of
Representatives (HoR) and Provincial Assembly (PA) has been counted so far.
Shaligram
Sharma Paudel, the spokesperson of the Election Commission, informed that process
to enter the details about PR votes counted so far in the information system of
the EC and that of the office of the chief election officer is underway.
There were
17.98 million eligible voters for the November 20 election of the member of the
HoR and the PA, according to the EC. Given the EC’s preliminary estimate that
voter turnout was 61 per cent, and now 80 per cent of that counted, it comes
out that about 2.4 million votes are remaining to be counted under the PR
category.
It is said
that the final result of the vote count of those Constituencies where the counting
is going on will be announced by Monday.
The vote count
of Bajura is yet to be started as the re-voting was conducted in Nandeshwari
Mavi, Pipalchaur polling centers on November 26.
As the ruling
parties and the opposition have locked horns in dispute, the EC decision is
awaited on whether to conduct re-voting or go ahead with counting in Syangja-2
