By Our Correspondent, Damak, Nov. 16: Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that Gagan Thapa will be proposed as the next prime minister and in case the latter withdraws, he will claim the post for himself.

Sharma, who is the election fray for the member of the House of Representative (HoR) from Constituency-1 of Jhapa district in Province 1, maintained that he had proposed Thapa as the next prime minister, and asked him not to backtrack from it.

"Gagan Thapa should move forward, he is young, he is my brother by age but he is also my friend. Even though I was ahead of him in student politics and other political affairs, he was elected to the parliament before than me," said Sharma.

As he had been a minister as well in the past, I am saying that he should take the lead and I will support him, said Sharma.

Sharma also said that if Thapa withdraws from this, he will move ahead as the candidate for the prime minister. I have made it clear and I am not going to back down, said Sharma.

According to him, he has not said this matter in a hidden or hesitant manner.

"I have said it clearly so that everyone can hear it. I have also informed the party leadership about it," he said.
