BY OUR CORRESPONDENT, Myagdi, Nov. 16: The staff in the rural areas of Myagdi district, assigned for the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) and Provincial Assemblies due on November, have started collecting election materials. On Monday, District Election Officer (DEO) Bhim Prasad Ghimire handed over the election materials to the staff assigned to Dhawalagiri Rural Municpality-1, one of the remote areas of the district.
The staff received the materials five days prior to the election day because it takes two days to arrive at Gurja polling station from the district headquarters, informed Election Officer Amrit Prasad Subedi.
The staff collected 63 types of election materials, including swastika stamp, ballot box security seal, sticker, stamp pad, ink, ballot box, ballot paper, voters’ ID card, rubber mat, cloth, scissors, scale, paper, needle, thread, sewing, brochure and others.
The office of the chief election officer informed that the election materials would be handed to other staff assigned to other remote polling stations and would be sent there. DEO Ghimire said that by the evening of November 17, all polling staff should reach the polling stations and post notices of alcohol-prohibited areas.
Meanwhile, the office of the chief election officer had asked the election office to deliver ballot box by helicopter to three polling stations located in the remote areas of Myadi. The three polling stations include Gurja of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-1, Bagara of Ward No. 4, Mudi and Kuine of Raghuganga Rural Municipality-8.
Since the polling stations are in remote area, we had proposed to bring ballot boxes to polling stations that are not accessible by road from the headquarters, informed Paudel. In the 2017 election, the ballot box for Gurja was brought to Beni by helicopter.
