Jumla, Nov. 14: A team led by Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi has reached Karnali Province to monitor security preparations for the November 20 elections.
The team consisting of Home Secretary Binod Prakash Singh, Defence Secretary Kiran Raj Sharma and Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office Madhu Kumar Marasaini and Nepali Army Commander Ashok Raj Sigdel has reached Jumla by a Nepali Army helicopter to observe the state of election security arrangements.
The team of visiting secretaries held a meeting with the District Security Committee about the preparations made for elections and security in Jumla and gave necessary instructions, said Chief District Officer Mukesh Kumar Keshari.
According to Keshari, in the meeting held at No. 24 Brigade Jumla, Brigade chief Rajendra KC had made a presentation about the security situation and preparations made for election in the five districts of previous Karnali zone.
Likewise, CDO Keshari apprised the team about the security situation in Jumla district and election preparations.
The District Administration Office has informed that the high-level government team has given necessary instructions regarding the election and security, CDO Keshari said.
Chief Secretary Bairagi directed the heads of all security agencies, including the local administration in the district, to move ahead in coordination with local administration and security bodies.
According to Ravin Thapa of Nepali Army Nandabox Battalion,
the high-level team of Chief Secretary Bairagi is scheduled to visit Jumla and Humla before spending the night in Mugu.
On Monday, the team will fly to Sudurpaschim to monitor the election security preparations.
