Vote For Right Candidates

blog

Britti Aryal

In general, a vote is the voice of opinion and it is important for everyone to vote in order to choose the right candidates. People 18 years of age or above are eligible to vote in the upcoming elections. It is the responsibility of the citizens to participate in the voting as this gives us a chance to support the policies that serve our nation. Every vote counts for promoting development. So, it’s time to exercise our rights and vote for the right candidates.

At this time, people are confused with the hollow speeches and overbearing talk of contenders. It’s time to think about what they actually did in the past. Not just their words but their deeds. We can clearly see what the country has turned into. Now, we have a few days to think wisely about whom to give our valuable votes in the coming election. It’s time to evaluate the contesting candidates based on his/her vision. Past missions and the development activities carried out need to be assessed.

Instead of going for them on the basis of caste, creed, religion, or relationship, check the person’s availability when in need. Public service means just serving the people above the needs of self. Learn about their past histories and their engagement in social works. See the leadership in them. Will they be able to consider our views in decision-making? Choose someone who not just has the desire to win but is willing to overcome obstacles.

No candidate will be able to agree with every voter but at least they must have the will to listen to all sides of an issue to address them and be able to communicate with supporters and opponents to reach the conclusion as listening can go a long way to building a better community. A proper understanding of the political system and present condition of the state is much necessary to study further the problems and the changes necessary in the country. So, see the political sides of the contenders.

Also, judge candidates by their personal characteristics like honesty, morality, compassion, and competence.  A good candidate is one who has the power of accepting his/her mistakes. Taking credit for a lot of things that go right and blaming others for the blunders just gives rise to dirty politics. For that reason, accountability is a must. The participation of young people in political processes is relatively low as compared to the older citizens. Youths can be creative and utilise the areas of dynamics to catalyse important changes. Application of their researched knowledge might be helpful in good decision-making. Also to make a difference in the longer term, it is essential for youths to lead.

In addition, the young people’s active contributions can promote democratic values. On that account, give a chance to young leaders. We live in a country that is way too plagued by corruption where transparency is necessary. It is important that the candidates have maintained transparency when it comes to financial matters.

Promises for infrastructure development are not just enough. So, if you want a better country, be a better citizen. Vote for someone who actually is willing to simplify the internal administrative process to bring the actual change. Choose someone who is to all intents and purposes willing to work.
