Int'l relations, national security significant issues, says NC

blog

Kathmandu, Oct 29:The Nepali Congress has stated that Nepal which is geopolitically sensitive should attach utmost importance to the issues of nationality, international relations, foreign policy and national security. These issues should be treated with long-term significance.

Making public its resolution paper on Saturday in the wake of the November 20 election to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly, the NC has stressed that a common national agenda should be prepared among the major political parties while making any policy of long term significance.

The NC has further said it would play a leading role to formulate the policies based on national consensus with broader discussion and consultation with major political parties in the parliament, stakeholders and area experts.

NC's major mantra is the nationality focused on people with geography. Nationality can be promoted and protected by uniting people from diverse groups. NC, as a nationalist and patriotic political party, is for pluralistic society.

The election manifesto of the major political party in Nepal further stated that the guiding principles of the national security policy would be national integrity, sovereignty, citizen's security, human security, fundamental rights, border security, human rights, rule of law and socio-religious harmony. "NC will redefine the national security policy based on broader and comprehensive concept of human security," the manifesto mentioned.

The NC has vowed that it will make the Nepali Army, the Armed Police, the Nepal Police and the National Investigation Department more professional, non-political, accountable, fair and resourceful.

High-level political and diplomatic dialogue would be adopted to sort out border problems with India and China. (RSS)
