9th National Games: Five gold medals finalized in athletics

Pokhara, Oct 17: Five gold medals of athletics were finalized on Monday in the ongoing Ninth National Games. Of the five gold medals, Nepali Army clinched three gold medals and one each by Lumbini and Karnali provinces.  

Jay Rani Tharu of Nepali Army won the gold medal in women's 100 metre hurdles, which was organised at the Pokhara Stadium. 

Jay Rani took 15.69 seconds to win the gold medal in the final. 

In the hit round, she completed the hurdles at 15.16 seconds and broke her own national record of 15.20 seconds. 

Similarly, Nirmala Thapa of the Nepali Army and Bhagirathi Kumari Tharu got silver and bronze medals, respectively.

110-meter men hurdles 

Likewise, Jeevan Chaudhary of the Nepali Army clinched the gold medal in men's 110 metres hurdles by completing the distance at 15.03 seconds.  

Likewise, Chandra Dev Joshi of the Nepal Police Club and Ram Prasad Tharu of the Nepali Army received silver and bronze medals, respectively. 

Discus Throw: Oli, Adhikari win matches

Chitra Bahadur Oli of the Nepali Army won the match while Puskal Khadka of the Nepal Police Club and Hemant Pal of Sudurpaschim Province clinched silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Similarly, Sangeeta Adhikari of Lumbini Province received the gold medal under women category. Jit Kumari Mahato of the Armed Police Force, Nepal and Milan Budha Magar of the Nepali Army stood second and third position in the match. 

3000 metres steeplechase: Durga wins gold medal with record

Likewise, Durga Bahadur Budha of Karnali Province clinched the gold medal by making new national record. Ajit Kumar Yadav of the APF Nepal and Subas Karki of the Nepali Army won silver and bronze medals, respectively.(RSS)
