Musikot, Oct 2 : Locals of Bhume Rural Municipality have finally been able to call outside the village on phones as a cell tower of Nepal Telecom came into operation at Mahat Village in Ward No. 6.

Amid the festival of Dashain, locals are happier as they are now able to call their relatives and friends to exchange greetings.

The locals of Bhume Rural Municipality were bound to climb higher hills, reach other villages or the district headquarters in Rukumkot to make a call from their mobile phone earlier.

“After a long time of continuous effort and lobbying, the cell tower of Nepal Telecom has finally come into operation in the village. People don’t need to suffer just to make a call now,” said Chandra Singh Shrestha, chief administrative officer of the rural municipality.

Former chairman of the rural municipality Ramsur Budha Magar said, “The tower was constructed much earlier, however, it wasn’t brought into operation until Friday. Nevertheless, it finally came into operation. I can call from my phone now by sitting at home.”

Locals informed that those returning to the hometown to celebrate Dashain were astonished to find that the village was now connected to others through communication.

“Now, we don’t need to travel far just to make a phone call. It has added happiness to all of us as we also celebrate Dashain,” said Kamal Budha, a local from Ward No. 6.
