Nepalgunj, Aug 26 : Kohalpur City Development Committee has added three days to the ultimatum given to vacate the streets and footpaths encroached on by the vendors running their businesses after the initial ultimatum expired.

The committee meeting held on July 14 had made a decision and published a notice regarding the removal of footpath vendors and illegal encroachment on streets.

Tika Ram Dhakal, a committee member, informed that the vendors have been asked to remove shops and businesses from the street within the given ultimatum.

The notice states that if the vendors don’t vacate the space on their own, the committee will be forced to do it itself and the vendors will have to bear the cost, he added.
The vendors have been taking the support from political parties to thwart the committee’s multiple attempts to vacant the streets.

Kohalpur bus park, cricket ground, and hotels are also found invading the streets, among others.

Kohalpur Municipality and Committee Chairman Purna Prasad Acharya said that no one has the right to seize the land in the name of the committee. He added that they would not allow anyone to run businesses by illegally occupying the government land.
