Rasuwa, Aug 10 : A landslide triggered by incessant rainfall last night completely disrupted a highway along the Banuwa Ghumti area in southern Rasuwa, the district in Bagmati Province.
As the District Police Office
Rasuwa said, the landfall caused the road cave-in between Majhgaun and Banuwa
Ghumti at Uttargaya rural municipality-5 which lies in the southern part of the
district in the Himalayan region.
The disaster has its implications for
settlements in the lower areas. Likewise, it has caused significant damage
to crops.
However, no human casualty has been
reported from the incident. Until the filing of this report, preparations were
on to resume the traffic and the collections of the loss details were going on
since the morning. It is said vehicular movements at Betrawati, Pahirebensi,
and Mailukhu have been totally halted following the landslides.
The disaster and its implications
on the traffic on the eve of the Janai Purnima festival have affected the
probable visitors to the Gosaikunda on the occasion of the festival.
Gosaikunda, the country's one famous religious site, draws a large number of devotees to take a holy dip in a freshwater lake here on Janai Purina.
As the police administration said vehicles available locally will be mobilized to transport Goasaikunda pilgrims to the destination safely.
Saroj Shrestha, a resident of
Laharepauwa, said the landslide occurred along around two kilometers of the area stretching from the Banuwa Ghumti to the Trishuli River.
It is said landslide has affected
private houses in the Naubise area. Further details of the loss are awaited. (RSS)
