‘Act to accommodate police in province will be passed soon’

Dhangadhi, Aug. 2: A meeting was held between Minister of Internal Affairs and Law of Sudurpaschim Province Dr. Rana Bahadur Rawal and Inspector General of Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh of Nepal Police on Monday at the former’s office.

According to Minister Rawal's office, the problems of non-enactment of the Federal Police Act, disaster and rescue in Sudurpaschim, construction of physical infrastructure of the police, peace and security, training related to cyber and control of drug use were discussed in the meeting.

Meanwhile, Minister Rawal had inaugurated the Provincial Level Crime Investigation Review Conference conducted by Nepal Police Head Office Kathmandu, Crime Investigation Division and South West Province Police Office Dhangadhi. 

On the occasion, Minister Rawal said that the Act to accommodate the police in the province will soon be passed by the Provincial Assembly.

He added that it was necessary to bring the police into provincial level in order to quickly investigate the criminal activities. Since police were always seen upfront with their service in all the incidents, they should be facilitated with the accommodation at their work station for their security, he said. The ministry had allocated budget for the construction of accommodation buildings, he added.

He committed to making all the offices of police and police check posts organised in the province.
