Khand, Prachanda discuss poll date

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, July 30:  A meeting was held between Minister for Home Affairs Balkrishna Khand and former Prime Minister and chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Friday.

In the meeting held at Prachanda’s residence in  Khumaltar this morning, the two discussed the national politics and contemporary issues, according to the Home Minister’s press coordinator Madhusudan Bhattarai.

“During the meeting, the Home Minister held discussion with the Maoist chairman regarding announcement of the date of the federal elections and the political way out to be taken by the ruling coalition parties,” Bhattarai quoted Minister Khand as saying.  

The Home Minister also talked about the Citizenship Bill, which had been now passed from both the Houses. Attending various public functions, chairman Prachanda had been saying that the election date would be announced within a few days. Home Minister Khand had a separate meeting with Maoist leader and former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara at the latter’s  residence Thursday evening.
