Judges Dr. Rajendra Prasad Acharya and Manoj Shrestha has solved a total of 2,400 cases.

Judge Dr. Acharya said that although there was a provision to settle 500 cases per head, one judge had to solve 1,740 cases.

He said that he felt proud that two judges in Surkhet had done the work of about five judges in a year and that he had to face such a situation due to a lack of manpower. He added that the ratio of cases had been increasing every year.

He explained that after Surkhet became the capital of the province, the population density and the tendency to commit crime had increased and as a result the number of cases in the court had also gone up. As the legal process was time taking, he informed that it was difficult to give justice as fast as the clients want. But he claimed that he was active in giving justice as quickly as possible.

Judge Dr. Acharya said that it was the matter of pride that two judges had decided more than 2,000 cases in a year. Stating that he had to be busy for two months during the local elections, he said that lawsuits would have increased had there been no local elections.

He said the cases related to relationships gone sour topped the list of the cases, with 35 per cent related to divorce. He said that most cases come from Birendranagar, Panchapuri, Gurbhakot and Bheriganga municipalities.

Another judge, Manoj Shrestha, informed that the work of administration of justice was also done in agreement.

He said that the more cases would be solved in a short span with the cooperation of all. He added that the legal knowledge had increased due to the increase in the number of cases registered, along with the status of judgments.
