By Our Correspondent Tanahun, June 26: Adikabi Bhanu Birthplace Development Committee has decided to organise a national level open poetry competition on the occasion of 209th Bhanu Jayanti. The competition will be held on July 12 in the birthplace of Bhanubhakta Acharya, Chundi Ramgha, a village in Ward No. 4 of Bhanu Municipality, Tanahun.
Organising a press meet in Damauli, the committee informed that the cash prize for the winners of the poetry competition will be increased this year. Similarly, it will be a three-day celebration from July 11-13.
“The winner will receive Rs. 20,000 while the runner ups Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000. Two others will receive consolation prize of Rs. 5,000 each. Aspiring poets should write the poem in Nepali language and should not be a published piece,” said Shankar Ranabhat, executive director of the committee.
On the same day, a school-level open poetry competition will also be organised. Bhanubhakta’s literature will also be recited on the day.
During the three-day celebration, the first day will be marked by worshipping local temples and illuminate the village through the night.
“The three days will be celebrated jubilantly. Bhanu Jayanti is one of the biggest festivals for us,” said Ranabhat.
Gandaki Province government has declared Bhanu Jayanti a public holiday as well.
